Greatest Joy!

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth” (III John 4).

One of the greatest joys of my life is to hear the voice of the Lord Jesus speaking through the heart of my daughter, Carissa Joy and son-in-law, B.J. I remember the thrill when I first began to realize how spiritually attuned she was at a young age, and it has matured so beautifully, especially through the fires of affliction over the past couple years. She has blossomed far beyond what I ever could have foreseen in the little girl who passionately but studiously read through the book of Revelation three times (in the King James, no less) by her eighth birthday. So very, very proud of their dedication, their ministry vision; but especially those utterances of spiritual understanding that can come ONLY from a heart that's logged time in close communion with His own (James 3:17). It just wells up inside my father's heart as I listen to her speak, until I feel I might burst.

Snuggling close my infinitely adorable little granddaughter this afternoon, I wondered to myself, have I EVER in my whole life loved anyone or anything like I love these two incredible grandkids of mine. The answer came almost immediately. Oh, yes. I have. Aside from my beloved bride, there were these four other tiny bundles once. I have loved this much before.

And still do.
