Sufficiency in Christ

"He has brought us inside. He has made us "meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light" (Colossians 1:3). There is not a saint on earth who is not fit for Heaven; but there is not one who is perfectly fit for earth. The only one who was fit for Earth was the Lord Jesus Christ, who was the Son of Man who is IN Heaven. You are left here HEAVENLY men upon the earth; there is no provision made for your being EARTHLY ones. That is the marvelous position you are placed in; you cannot understand what it is to be fit for Earth until you have been to Heaven -- Ephesians 2:6; Philippians 3:20; Colossians 3:3 (Ministry III:94). "There is this in sorrow, that you never get used to it; every new sorrow revives all the old ones. And not all the nunneries in the world will teach you this. A nun does not look out of the window for fear of what she will see; but a widow says, However much I look out I can see nothing to engage me, for I have lost all. And when I have learned death, I have learned what the sufficiency of Christ is" (Ministry III:75). -- J. B. Stoney
